According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report released earlier this month, the national unemployment rate stayed steady at 3.7 percent in November. This was after a 0.2 percent increase in October from September’s 3.5 percent unemployment rate.
While the unemployment rate stayed the same, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by about 263,000. The largest gains were seen in the leisure and hospitality (+88,000), health care (45,000), and government (+42,000) sectors.
