Last week, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announced they would be cutting oil production by 2 million barrels per day. The decision has caused gas prices to rise across the country with some experts saying that the national average could reach $4.
As of Friday, October 14, the average price per gallon of gas in the United States was $3.903 which is less than Thursday’s average and remains well below the $5.016 record high, set earlier this summer. Georgia’s statewide average price per gallon is the lowest in the country at $3.265.
The top five most affordable metropolitan areas to get gas are:
- Rome at $3.173
- Warner Robins at $3.189
- Catoosa-Dade-Walker at $3.191
- Augusta-Aiken and Gainesville at $3.197
- Dalton at $3.216
