Furkids Animal Rescue, Georgia’s largest no-kill animal shelter, held its first annual “Fashion for Furkids” fundraiser on May 14 at the Giaquinto Event Center at Shiloh Gardens. The event, planned for the second Tuesday of every May, showcased vintage and contemporary styles from fashion historian Nancy Flaherty’s collection, trends from Dillard’s, and items from Furkids thrift stores. The highlight was a fashion show featuring outfitted puppies, delighting attendees and raising funds for the shelter.

The fundraiser also included a silent auction of designer handbags, which raised $10,000 to support the care of animals at Furkids. The nonprofit, which operates several thrift stores, relies on these funds for a significant portion of its annual budget. Furkids is also constructing a new 13,000-square-foot dog shelter, set to double its current capacity and provide a more comfortable environment for its long-term residents. This effort is part of Furkids’ campus master plan, which includes a new medical building to expand their surgical and treatment capabilities.
